From July 1st 2016 eligible homebuyers looking to purchase their new home as a first homebuyer may be eligible for $20,000. This is a QLD State Government Initiative designed to drive housing and boost first home buyer confidence. Pre-July 1st it was known as the Great Start Grant and approved applicants were given $15,000. For the next 12 months the Qld Government has approved the change to increase by $5000 to 20,000 in hope to inject more buyers and create more opportunities for first homebuyers. These grants are subject to state approval and the properties must be a new built or newly constructed property.
